Stop Train Wreck at the Depot!
Trusted 30 year partnership in Stoughton on the verge of a train wreck! After partnering with the City on saving and restoring the Train Depot on Main Street 30 years ago, the Stoughton Historical Society has learned that the City was recently approached by a private entity that wants to buy the building...and the City is officially considering selling. Why was this a shock to the Historical Society? Because they were not consulted or informed about the sale of the building that they and their volunteers restored. And because after maintaining Stoughton's Ag and Transport Museum in the Depot for the 30 years since the restoration was completed, the Stoughton Historical Society - and the artifacts the community has entrusted to them - could be evicted and have no place to go. HOW CAN WE KEEP THIS HARD-EARNED, TREASURED AND TRUSTED PARTNERSHIP FROM BECOMING A TRAIN WRECK? Join SHS Presdentm Nancy Hagen, for a brief presentation followed by a community discussion on January 21. Those who would like to see the Agriculture and Transportation Museum right BEFORE the meeting are welcome to stop by the Depot from 4:30 - 6:00 pm
