Sons of Norway Sølje Program
Sons of Norway- Mandt Lodge welcomes the public to “An Evening about Sølje, the Jewelry of Norway past and present” presented by Janis Wegner and Barb Zander. The event will be on Wednesday, September 14, at 7:00 PM. The Sons of Norway Lodge is located 317 South Page Street in Stoughton. Come learn about the National jewelry of Norway, aka Troll fighting Jewelry, the mythology, facts, and types of Sølje representing different regions of Norway. The closing of the Stationery Store brought out Janis Wegner’s love of shiny things -culminating in the partnership with Barbara Zander. Together, they bought out their stock and had many great times admiring the jewelry and talking about growing up in Stoughton with Norwegian relatives. Learn what the importance of silver is to the Norwegian culture. Bring your whole family, at the end we will have stations for the youth to try their hand at making their own sølje (geared toward the youth but adults are welcome to make one too). Refreshments will be served! Everyone is welcome and no reservations needed! Please contact Darlene Arneson at arnesonfamily5@gmail.com or 608-873-7209 for more information. Mandt Lodge is handicapped accessible with a lift located on the south side of the building. There is parking on the street, public parking lot behind the Stoughton Senior Center, or in the Livsreise parking lot if their building is closed. We always encourage you to bring donations for the Stoughton Food Pantry! The public is always welcome at Mandt Lodge!
