Sons of Norway Hauge Log Church Program
Sons of Norway-Mandt Lodge welcomes the public to “An Evening at the Hauge Log Church” presented by Howard Kitzke and Richard Fredrickson. The program will be on Wednesday, January 12, at 7:00 PM. The lodge is located at 317 South Page Street in Stoughton. Mandt Lodge welcomes the public to join us to learn about the history of the early Norse pioneers who realized the need for a house of worship and built the first Norwegian Lutheran Church in western Dane County. The church is built from logs harvested in 1851-1852. The first service was held on May 27, 1852 and the last service was held in 1887. Howard Kiezke is a historian and sexton for the Hauge Log Church and Cemetery. Richard Fredrickson is President of the 1852 Hauge Log Church Preservation Association. Mandt Lodge will also be installing their 2022-2023 officers and awarding scholarships at the meeting. Refreshments will be served! Please contact Darlene Arneson at arnesonfamily5@gmail.com or 608-873-7209 for more information. Mandt Lodge is handicapped accessible with a lift located on the south side of the building. There is parking on the street, public parking lot behind the Stoughton Senior Center, or in the Livsreise parking lot if their building is closed. We always encourage you to bring donations for the Stoughton Food Pantry! The public is always welcome at Mandt Lodge!
