Shopping Night Benefiting Occupaws Guide Dogs
Join us at The Crazy Dog Mom for our Community Focused Shopping Night benefiting Occupaws Guide Dogs.
Shop at The Crazy Dog Mom on Thursday, July 25 from 6pm - 8pm and support Occupaws.
There will be drinks, light snacks, and a giveaway!
We will donate 10%, 15%, or 20% of the sales made during the shopping night depending on the total of sales made.
The higher the sales, the higher the donation!
OccuPaws Guide Dog Association is a Madison, WI based 501(c)(3) that raises, trains and places guide dogs to the visually impaired of WI.
Each dog is carefully matched to the client according to traits like lifestyle, personality, walking speed and activity level.
The placement is done through an in home placement program, where a Guide Dog Mobility Instructor (GDMI) spends about 2 weeks working with the client in their home environment, as opposed to a guide dog academy.This allows a unique and personalized experience for the new working team. Our program has labrador retrievers, golden retrievers, and poodles.
The puppies are raised in volunteers homes from birth, through our in house breeding program, or starting at 8 weeks if they are from an external breeder.
The pups rotate every 4 months between different volunteers homes to get exposure to many different lifestyles. One of the rotations include our PawsFoward program at New Lisbon correctional.
After about 12-16 months in puppy placement, the dogs go off to Harness Training to learn guide dog work!Shopping Night Benefiting Occupaws Gu...Date and Time
