Sons of Norway hosts Stoughton A & W Story Program Sons of Norway- Mandt Lodge will host “Sharing the A & W Stoughton Story” with Tom & Philayne Chose at their Wednesday, August 14 meeting. The program will begin at 7:00 PM and will be held at Sons of Norway, 317 South Page Street, in Stoughton. The story of A & W in Stoughton begins in the mid 1940’s with Harold and Frieda Chose. Many photographs capture the valued employees, customers in their vintage cars and smiles expressing joy in the sugar-laden A & W root beer. The menu began on a small scale—hot dogs and barbeques. Car hops memorized their orders. As the business expanded, the root beer remained a favorite. We will focus on the changes over the decades. There is parking on the street, public parking lot behind the Stoughton Senior Center, or in the Livsreise parking lot if their building is closed.
