Relay For Life of Stoughton-McFarland-Oregon
The Relay For Life of Dane and Rock Counties (formerly Stoughton-McFarland-Oregon) is having their 2022 event in-person. Join the Relay For Life of Dane and Rock Counties on Saturday, August 20 at Mandt Park at Mandt Park located at 400 Mandt Parkway in Stoughton. We will be a part of the Stoughton Coffee Break Festival during the day from 9:00 am- 3:00 pm.
This year’s theme is “Relaying through the Decades” and teams have been selecting a decade for
their campsites, attire, and other fun activities! There will be a Best Dressed Contest for kids and
adults, a dance contest, and a hula hoop contest for those who are interested.
The teams will be setting up their campsites right after Coffee Break and food will be available. The
Rock County All-In Team will offer pork sandwiches, chips and pop starting at 5:15 PM. The Opening
Ceremonies will be held at 6 PM and include speakers Dr. Aaron Schwaab of Stoughton Health
speaking about breast cancer and an ACS funded researcher from Madison. We will have the Girl
Scouts present the flags, music by the St. Ann’s Choir, be recognizing our sponsors, Event
Leadership Team, and teams. The Survivor’s Lap and Caregiver’s Lap will follow the Opening
Ceremonies. The kid’s games and best dressed contests will begin at 6:45 PM, followed by the
Adult’s best dressed and dance contest, and then a hula-hoop contest will be held at 7:45 PM. We
will have some hula hoops there or you can bring your own!
The Luminaria Ceremony will be held at 8:15 PM and time afterwards will be given to those wanting
to walk and take in the bags and reflecting on loved ones touched by cancer. The Closing
Ceremonies will be held at 9:15 PM.
Currently, the Relay has sixteen teams signed up from Dane and Rock Counties. The name was
changed this year as we welcomed teams from DeForest, Janesville, and Sun Prairie to our event.
Thank you to our sponsors for the event. They include Tri-County Appliance, The Edwin E. and Janet
L. Bryant Foundation, Stoughton Health, Working Partnerships, Gunderson Funeral Home, Culver’s
of Stoughton, Pizza Pit, Stoughton Health, Edward Jones - Phillip Knutson, and SWB Enterprises.
The Stoughton Chamber is an in-kind sponsor of the event.
More information and updates can be found on our event’s Facebook page at
https://www.facebook.com/RFLDaneAndRockCounties. People can also donate to the event, to a
team, or to a team member by visiting www.relayforlife.org/daneandrockcountieswi. Online luminaria
sales will end on Thursday so we can process them for Saturday.
If you are or have friends or family who are a cancer survivor, please register for the event and join us
for the Opening ceremonies, Survivor Lap and have those who have supported your journey join you
in the Caregivers Lap. You are the reason we Relay! They will get a link for a free survivor’s shirt
once they register!
For $10 per luminaria bag, you can dedicate it in “Memory of” or “In Honor of” a loved one. You can
order the bags online or fill out the form and give payment to a team member, buy at Coffee Break, or
until 7 PM at the event.
