While senior members of Aligning Stars theater company are home for Christmas break, they are rehearsing for this quirky musical. The musical will be performed at Stoughton Village Players January 3-5 at 7pm. With a handful of members, and a dwindling budget, the Cuyahoga High Marching Band is facing imminent extinction. New student Jake, a reluctant addition to the ranks, is stuck between his reputation and his new friends, while flute player Laura is struggling to shine among her more scintillating peers. Can the newly appointed captain and tuba-player, Elliot, keep them all together? Along with a collection of vibrantly colorful fellow band members, the trio come to learn that letting their geek-flag fly can be one heck of a good time. The cast includes Leo Endres as Jake, Katelyn Curtin as Laura and Zach Wolff as Elliot. Playing the other “geeks” are Taylor Marshall, Bergen Gardner, Gabe Ross, Molly Caviezel, Isaac Eugster, Kristen Nett, Connor Roisum, Reese Bahrke, Jon Klingenberg, Keaton Read, Callie Jordan, and Makenna Smith. DeeDee Bouzek shares the stage with her former students as Principal Dixon. Taye Levin plays band teacher, Mr. Hornsby and Emalyn Bauer as Ms. Dixon’s assistant Joyce. With an amazing score by Mark Allen and Gaby Alter, and a hilarious book by Gordon Greenburg, Band Geeks! Is sure to become a favorite. Producer, DeeDee Bouzek first learned about the show while attending a conference in New York with Greenburg. “I fell in love with the music instantly” she says “ It is very catchy and honest.
