The “featured” event: The Wisconsin State Rosemaling Association's Holiday Bazaar: Saturday, October 27 from 9 AM – 2 PM. Their sale is held at the Stoughton Fire Department's Training Room, 401 East Main Street in Stoughton.
On Friday, the Historic Depot and Museum is open from 9am-3:30pm, in the Chamber Office at 532 E. Main Street. The original passenger train station built in 1913 will be open and available for tours. A museum is in the back of the building, with original Mandt wagons on display.
Downtwon businesses open both Friday and Saturday include Nordic Nook, 176 W. Main Street, which is celebrating their Anniversary Weekend with the Annual Blow-out Sweater Sale! Cheesers, 183 East Main Street, offers about 120 varieties of cheese and numerous Norwegian types. Cheesers is open Monday- Friday from 9-5:30 and Saturday from 9:00-4:30.
Open both Friday and Saturday from 9:30-4:30 is Livsreise- Norwegian Heritage Center at 277 W. Main Street. There is free admission. They currently are hosting a unique exhibit of immigrant quilts entitled “Pieces of self: Identity and Norwegian American Quilts” On Saturday at they offer a free program from 1:00-2:00- “Where did you come from before you were Norwegian?” Speaker Craig Gjerde will lead us back about two million years and follow early man as he left Africa and moved into Asia and Europe.
Saturday offers a variety of activities including the Stoughton High School Norwegian Dancers: Community Building Activities at 320 North Street. There is Halloween Costume judging by the Dancers, ages 0-12, at 2:00 PM. The Dancers will be performing at the Community Building with trick or treating for the kids at 3:00 PM and at 4:00 PM, The Dancers and Trick or Treaters will parade down to Main Street where they can continue to trick or treat at area businesses.
Stoughton Historical Society, 324 South Page, will be open from 10:00-3:30.
