Group Tour Opportunities in Stoughton, WI

Looking for something new and interesting for your tour groups?  Discover Stoughton, WI.  Located on the banks of the Yahara River, Stoughton is a treasure chest of Norwegian Heritage and Victorian architecture, Arts and Culture, and warm, friendly Festivals.  Located conveniently within easy driving distance of Chicago and only minutes from Madison, Stoughton is the heart of Southern Wisconsin.

As part of Circle Wisconsin's European Wisconsin Style itinerary, we can provide your clients with a fun and educational experience.  One of our more popular tours, the Norwegian Heritage Tour will take your clients around historic Stoughton and to a traditional Norwegian lunch complete with informative demonstrations and displays of Norwegian crafts and culture.  You can also visit the Stoughton Historical Museum filled with wonderful Norwegian displays as well as items from the past, shop our downtown with its many unique boutiques and/or visit the beautifully restored Opera House.

Sample Norwegian Heritage Tour

10am-11:30am Step On Tour
Have an expert in Stoughton's Norwegian history tell you the story of this unique community. Learn about the area's Norwegian heritage and why Stoughton is credited with the first "Coffee Break." Step on guide is available for only $2 per person.
  • Visit a monument to the first Norwegian prairie church service
  • Visit the Norwegian East and West Koshkonong Lutheran churches. Learn why they are built within 50 yards of each other!
  • Visit the Stoughton Historical Museum
  • Tour the Stoughton Opera House

11:30am-12:30am Norwegian Luncheon ($15/person)
Enjoy an authentic Norwegian lunch at the Sons of Norway Lodge. Menu typically includes Norwegian meatballs, potatoes, carrots, cucumber salad, riscreme and other Norwegian desserts.

12:30pm-1:30pm Norwegian Craft Demonstrations ($25 flat fee)
View demonstrations such as rosemaling, hardanger (Norwegian needlework) and listen to a little  .

1:30pm-3:00pm Downtown Shopping
Stoughton's Main Street will take you back to another century. Historic storefronts entice you to explore the unique shops, galleries and specialty stores. 

3:00pm-3:45pm Cookie Break
Enjoy fresh baked Norwegian goodies like krumkake ($1/person)

6:00pm-7:00pm Dinner
Enjoy a hearty dinner at Halverson's located near the shore of beautiful Lake Kegonsa. The restaurant has been serving dinners since 1927.

7:30pm Performance at the Stoughton Opera House or evening on your own.
