Syttende Mai Ugly Troll Drawing Contest - 2017
Purpose of Ugly Troll: To give the children in Stoughton the opportunity to become involved with our Syttende Mai Festival and its Norwegian Folklore.
Who: Open to all children Grades PK – 8 living in the Stoughton Area School District.Only one drawing per child is allowed. The picture must be drawn by the child.
What: An original hand drawn ugly troll picture. Must be on an 8 ½ x 11 sheet of white paper. The drawing can be in color or black & white. Please put your name, grade and school on the bottom left hand corner of your drawing. The child’s phone number must be on the back of the drawing written in pencil. (Winners will be notified by phone.)
Deadline: All drawings must be submitted to the Stoughton Chamber of Commerce Office by Tuesday, May 2, 2017.
Judging: The drawings will be placed into the following grade categories: Grades PreK-K, Grades 1-2, Grades 3-4, Grades5-6, and Grades7–8 (categories may change based on the number of entrants per category). Awards will be distributed on May 19, 2017 during Opening Ceremonies. Winners will be contacted by phone during the second week in May. Late entries will not be judged or displayed.
Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each age category. All participants will receive an Ugly Troll token that can be picked up at the Chamber office when drawing is picked up.
Display: All drawings will be on display from May 12 to May 26, 2017 at the Stoughton Public Library.
Pick Up: All drawings will be available for pick up at the Chamber Office from June 6 until July 3, 2017. No drawings will be mailed back.
The Stoughton Chamber of Commerce Office is located at 532 E Main St (Depot). Hours are Monday - Friday 9am – 4:30pm. There is a mail slot in the front door that is always available. Phone Number is (608) 873-7912.
For a live stage performance, be sure to see the Stoughton Village Players, one of the oldest community theaters in the area. Since they formed in 1972, the Stoughton Village Players have put on over 70 musicals, dramas, comedies, and variety shows.
