It's time again to plan for the Arts & Crafts Fair during Syttende Mai.  We're looking forward to seeing our old friends and meeting new ones!  Due to popular demand the art fair is once again 2 days, Saturday, May 19th, and Sunday, May 20th.  We will have free coffee in the morning for exhibitors, along with homemade cinnamon rolls on Saturday and kringles from Fosdals on Sunday.

Last year we were allowed to open additional booths on the street in front of the grassy area, and this year we will have booths in the street on one side only.  Hopefully this will help eliminate the congestion problems we had last year when booths on both sides were trying to set up at the same time.  The fair will end 3:00pm on Sunday, an hour earlier than in the past. 

Entrants need to sign the application form indicating that at least 50% of the value of their items is due to the artist's effort.  We do not accept buy-sell entries, food entries, or medicinal products.  The registration fee is $120.

We have a limited number of spaces available; you must apply no later than March 10, 2012 to be considered in the first round.  Applications received after that date will be considered if there are openings or cancellations.  Acceptance and denial letters will be mailed no later than April 1st.  A list of accepted artists will have a link at the bottom of this page after April 1st.  If you have any questions you may e-mail them to sslew@mailbag.com or call the Syttende Mai Coordinator at (608) 438-7912. Dates & Times:           Saturday, May 19, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

                                 Sunday, May 20, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Location:                    River Bluff School Campus, 235 N Forrest St, Stoughton, WI

                                 (2 blocks north of Main St, at the intersection of North St and 4^th St)

                                 This event is held outdoors on the school grounds and on the street in front of the school.  Please be prepared for the weather!

Media:                       Arts and Crafts that support and accentuate the spirit and intent of the Syttende Mai Folk Festival are desired. Rosemaling, woodcarving, painting, graphics, pottery, sculpture, ceramics, photography, handicrafts, jewelry, weaving, and unique arts and crafts are encouraged.  All work must be original in design and execution.  All work displayed must be for sale.  Artists receive all proceeds from their sales.

Display:                     Each artist must provide his/her own props, display, and weather protection.  Each artist will be responsible for setup, exhibition, and removal of display.  Electricity and water are not provided.

Application Process:   Spaces are limited and early applications are encouraged.  You must include a self-addressed, stamped envelope, registration fee, and a photo of your work along with the completed application form and tax form.  All applications must be postmarked by Saturday, March 10, 2012 to be considered in the first round.

                                 (If spaces are available, late applications will be considered.)

Registration Fee:        The registration fee is $120.00.  Please make checks payable to Syttende Mai Art Fair.

Spaces and Location: Spaces are available on grass and on asphalt.  Please indicate your preference on the application form.  You will be notified of your space assignment when you receive your acceptance materials.  Spaces are at least 10’ by 10 1/2’.  Because of high demand for spaces, large or double spaces may not be available.

Set-up:                      You will be assigned an unloading time for Saturday morning: 6:00 AM, 7:00 AM, or 8:00 AM.  Staggering set-up helps to improve traffic flow and parking on the street during set-up time.  Set-up before 6:00 AM on Saturday is at the exhibitor's own risk.

Security                     Professional security will be provided from 5:00 PM Saturday through 9:00 AM Sunday. 

Cancellation Policy:    If your space can be filled from the waiting list, your full registration fee will be returned.  Other refunds will not be made.

To summarize the application procedure, the following materials must be sent to us postmarked by March 10, 2012:
 

• Completed, signed application form, with any special requests clearly indicated
• Completed Wisconsin Sales Tax Form
• One or more clear photos of your work. Larger (up to 8x10) is better
• A stamped, self addressed envelope large enough to hold your materials and with enough postage to mail it back to you. Please, please be sure to include this with your application - it saves us a lot of work!
• A check for $120 made payabe to Syttende Mai Art Fair
