2017 Vendor Information

We listened to your feedback, and made some adjustments. First, we’ve brought back a limited number of outdoor spaces. Second, we’ve increased booth sizes to 10’ x 10’. Last, we’ve changed the Saturday show hours to 10am to 6pm. The 2017 Fair is on Saturday, May 20th and Sunday, May 21st. We will have free coffee in the morning for exhibitors, along with homemade cinnamon rolls on Saturday and kringles from Fosdal's on Sunday.

Saturday hours are 10am to 6pm and Sunday hours are 9am to 2pm. We expect all artists to stay until 2pm on Sunday and no early loading will be permitted without prior approval.

Entrants need to sign the application form indicating that at least 50% of the value of their items is due to the artist’s effort. We do not accept buy-sell entries, immediate-serve food entries (nothing that would require city health inspection), or medicinal products. The registration fee is $150.

We have a limited number of spaces available; you must apply no later than April 11, 2017. Applications received after that date will be considered if there are openings or cancellations. Acceptance and denial letters will be mailed no later than April 18th. A list of accepted artists will be posted on this page by April 18th. If you have any questions, you may e-mail them to smaiartfair@gmail.com or call the SMACF Coordinator at (608) 225-2654. We hope to see you at the fair on May 20th!

Dates & Times Saturday, May 20, 10am to 6pm
Sunday, May 21, 9am to 2pm
Location River Bluff School Gymnasium/Cafetorium and Grounds, 235 N Forrest St, Stoughton, WI (2 blocks north of Main St, at the intersection of North St and 4th St)
This event is held indoors and outdoors on the school grounds and inside the gymnasium and cafetorium.
Media Arts and Crafts that support and accentuate the spirit and intent of the Syttende Mai Folk Festival are desired. Rosemaling, woodcarving, painting, graphics, pottery, sculpture, ceramics, photography, handicrafts, jewelry, weaving, and unique arts and crafts are encouraged. All work must be original in design and execution. All work displayed must be for sale. Artists receive all proceeds from their sales.
Display Each artist must provide his/her own props and display. Each artist will be responsible for setup, exhibition, and removal of display. Electricity and water are not provided.
Application Process Spaces are limited and early applications are encouraged. You must include the registration fee, completed application form, sales tax form and a photo of your work either electronic or print (if you want the print returned, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope). All applications must be postmarked by Tuesday, April 11, 2017.
Registration Fee The registration fee is $150.00. Please make checks payable to Syttende Mai Art Fair.
Spaces All spaces are 10’ by 10’. You will be notified of your space assignment when you receive your acceptance materials. Because of high demand for spaces, double spaces may not be available. Public Wi-Fi is available for electronic transactions.
Set-up You will be assigned an unloading time on Saturday morning at 6am, 7am, 8am or 9am. Staggering set-up helps to improve traffic flow and parking on the street during set-up time.
Security The River Bluff building will be locked down after 6:30pm on Saturday, and reopen at 8am Sunday.
Outdoor spaces are not secured overnight.
Cancellation Policy If your space can be filled from the waiting list, your full registration fee will be returned. Other refunds will not be made.

To summarize the application procedure, the following materials must be sent to the Stoughton Chamber of Commerce:

  • Completed, signed application and release form, with any special requests clearly indicated.
  • Completed Wisconsin Sales Tax Form (S-240)
  • One or more clear photos (print or electronic) of your work. Larger (up to 8X10) is better
  • If you wish your print photos returned to you, include a stamped, self-addressed envelope large enough to hold your materials and with enough postage to mail it back to you.  Please, please be sure to include this with your application – it saves us a lot of work!
  • A check for $150 made payable to Syttende Mai Art Fair
  • The address is:
