Stoughton Area School District
Schools in the Stoughton area

Located in south central Wisconsin, the Stoughton Area School District is an award-winning school system that consistently posts a higher graduation rate than many Dane County schools and has garnered national recognition for its educational practices. We offer three elementary schools, one middle level school, one high school and a virtual school through a consortium of other area school districts. Our district encompasses the City of Stoughton and parts of the towns of Albion, Christiana, Cottage Grove, Deerfield, Dunkirk, Dunn, Pleasant Springs and Rutland in Dane County, as well as parts of the towns of Porter and Union in Rock County.
Some facts about the Stoughton Area School District:
Our graduation rate is 95%.
We are one of only a small number of known high schools in the United States to have a digital fabrication laboratory, developed in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Our inclusive teaching approach has been highlighted by the Minnesota-based National Center for Educational Outcomes and is now the subject of ongoing study by the University of Kansas (KU) SWIFT Center, which is developing a national model for how general and special education students can be educated together.
Our students’ composite ACT score is 23.6.
Stoughton High School athletics offers 14 different sports with over 40 competitive teams as well as a state of the art fitness center. Those athletic offerings are complemented by 26 extracurricular or co-curricular activities.
We offer Advanced Placement and other dual credit options through partnerships with Madison College and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
